Celebrating Arbor Day
A lot of people used to laugh and say you're never going to have a tree big enough to hang a swing in if you plant a little bitty tree like this. I think they were wrong. As you can see I can hang and swing in this tree and it's less than ten years old planted from a very small tree just like this.
Of course Arbor Day is coming up on Sunday and the difference is planting the right kind of tree. These are two kinds of trees that are fast growing if you take care of them for this area. The one I'm hanging in is called Montezuma Cypress. It does extremely well in this area even in the dryer soils, and also the Monterey Oak. The Monterey Oak is a live oak type that very seldom loses its leaves but does well in this area.
So what you need to do is choose the kind of tree that you want to plant for this area, disease free and fast growing, and plant you a good fast growing tree for Arbor Day.
