I sure am proud of my St Augustine grass. This is absolutely the best St. Augustine for this area. It's called Floratan. So if you're going to put in a St. Augustine lawn insist on Floratan.
Of course you want to make sure that it goes into the winter healthy, and happy, and well fed. For that reason you need to add winterizer fertilizer. This is the most commonly asked question that we've been getting on TV. People say, "How in the world do we ask you a question on TV?" It's very simple. KENS TV has a wonderful website and it's at www.kens-tv.com and they've been so nice to put me on. If you scroll down to the bottom of that title page you'll see a section called Jerry Parsons Plant Answers. You click on that, you go to my Internet answering site, and you can most of the time find the answers to your questions or you can send me the question.
You'll see on there that we're talking about going to your local nursery at this time of the year using winterizer fertilizer. Just look on the bag; it'll say winterizer fertilizer. And then also looking for some ant products such as Logic or Firm and putting on the ants so that you'll change their sexes during the winter and kind of decrease your plant population without having to see all that death and destruction.
So now is the time to winterize your lawn, get rid of the ants for next spring, and make sure you have a beautiful St. Augustine lawn next year.
