Begonias

1. Q: I bought some begonia tubers this year and they grew just beautifully. My problem is that I do not know if they will grow again next year or if they are just a one year plant. Do I have to buy new ones next year ? Thanks for the info. By the way, I live in Southern Ontario, Canada just in case that makes a difference.

A: Tuberous begonias can only be grown as cool season potted plants in Texas. They must be protected from frost and probably will not return from tubers left remaining in the ground in cold climates such as Canada. It would be much safer to dig the tubers, allow them to dry, store in a dry, frost-free place until time to start growth again.
