Tobacco Ring Spot Virus
Tiny brown
spots surrounded by yellow halo may appear on young leaves as a "stippling"
effect [wmd41.jpg]. Symptoms produced on fruits are more important than
leaf symptoms, though. The virus can
overwinter in wild hosts and in infected seed. It is spread from infected plants by the dagger
nematode (Xiphinema spp.), grasshoppers, tobacco thrips, tobacco flea
beetles and several other insects.
