This new edition of 'Specialty Cut Flowers', which originally appeared in 1994, has been greatly expanded and covers almost all aspects of the American cut flower industry. It will be of interest to beginners as well as experienced members of the Association of Specialty Cut Flower Growers. Input has been gathered from producers across the United States, and includes Texas growers.
The plants are arranged alphabetically, with information on varieties and their characteristics, tolerance to varying soils and temperature zones, hints on germination, how to grow them out, diseases, timing of fertilizing, physiological problems from environmental factors, field and greenhouse performance, propagation, sources, postharvest treatments, and stage of harvest. Lists of materials for further reading are included. A wide range of plants suitable for cut flower and foliage uses are described: annuals, perennials, bulbs, woody shrubs and small trees.
